Senior Payroll Co-Ordinator
Role Description:
This role has overall responsibility for payroll for over 500 Financial Services staff and 60 pensioners. This is a busy role where the successful applicant will have overall responsibility for running this critical function within the Human Resources Department. While operating in a team environment this is essentially a stand-alone role that requires the provision of a high quality service Administration support will be provided for this role.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Responsible for running 6 payrolls with complete accuracy and within deadlines. 1 Main Head Office payroll and 5 additional reduced size payrolls including Directors Quarterly payroll, Assignees, Pensioners, etc.
• Act as Payroll and Staff pension specialist within the department and keep up to date with legislative changes.
• Provide monthly reports to and liaise with the outsource company who administer the pension scheme.
• Ensure Continuous Process Improvement of the payroll function.
• Liaise with payroll software provider on software updates required.
• Complete monthly Nominal Journals by deadlines set by Finance. Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Statutory Returns (P30, P45 & P60’s) by the end of the first week of the month.
• Complete Tax Year End for Tax Year successfully. Resolve outstanding discrepancies, if any, with P35 returns for previous years.
• Update payroll procedures regularly.
• Responsible for the year end reconciliation of healthcare schemes in conjunction with the provider.
• Monthly reconciliation of the Pensions Conglomerate Account.
• Responsible for BIK and Car Allowance reconciliations
• Implement the Remittance of Tax Basis for relevant staff.
• Project work as defined on a quarterly basis
• Other ah-hoc duties will arise from time to time
Background of Candidate:
• Ideal candidate will have strong previous experience of running payroll.
• Strong IT skills are required. Megapay is the current package in use. Previous Payroll systems experience is required.
• A Certified Payroll/ Accounting Technician while not strictly necessary would be a strong advantage.
• The successful candidate should be capable of working on their own initiative and adhering to strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential along with a flexible approach to work.
• Candidates must also be able to organise a varied workload in a busy pressurised environment.
