****Systems Architect****
Java / J2EE / SOA / OOAD

Our client a leading player within the financial services market is looking to recruit an experienced Systems Architect to work within our Systems Architect Career Centre located in Dublin, Ireland. The successful candidate will be responsible for enhancing our European Distribution Technology Portal based on a Java/J2EE/Websphere development environment.

The successful candidate is expected to have extensive Architecture experience preferably working in the Insurance or Financial Services sector.

Role Description:

-Architect and Design e-business applications
-Understand the impact of architectural decisions from an enterprise architecture perspective
-Provide governance and advice to projects on strategic architectural direction
-Participate in project planning
-Provide input into the evolution of the J2EE/Websphere software development environment (SDE) and methods
-Provide recommendations and advice relating to in-house vs third party development
-Monitor industry trends, technologies and standards for potential internal use
-Creation and maintenance of architectural best practice

Essential Skills and Experience:

-Involvement in a number of projects using Java / J2EE in a web based environment in an Architectural capacity
-Project related use of Websphere and Websphere portal
-Good understanding of OOAD, UML & Design Patterns, Service Oriented Architectures, XML -Messaging Standards
-Good understanding of current development frameworks / approaches (Struts / Spring / Hibernate / Tivoli product set)
-Highly proficient communication, initiative and leadership skills
-Fully conversant with the Java development stack and programming techniques.
-Extensive knowledge of one or more of the following: Object-oriented development, UML, Websphere Portal Server (WPS) V5 or higher, WSAD V5.0 or higher, XML, Standard, Struts, Content Management – Stellent, Rational Suite experience, CVS and Service Oriented Architecture knowledge or experience

-The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who exhibits strong leadership traits and is a motivated self starter
-Excellent communication skills with a ‘can do’ attitude
-Successful applicants will have operated within a recognised application/service delivery process and methodology such as CMMi, RUP or other and understand the importance of change management, testing and documentation.
