TASKS RESPONSABILITIES :

Establish and define new product needs for the EMEA market by working closely with the Marketing teams and by close collaboration with surgeons.

This individual will lead of group of 4 R&D engineers based in Switzerland and one in England to develop new products as part of a cross-functional, global development team.

They will need to work closely with surgeons to develop initial design inputs and refine prototypes. They will be responsible for direct management, including creating individualized development plans for each employee in the team and budgeting responsibility.

They will need to provide product support for surgeons and the sales force. In addition, the candidate will be expected to develop a broad knowledge base of various spinal pathologies and contribute to the worldwide strategic direction of the company as a whole.

The qualified candidate will utilize their strong background in new product development of medical devices to bring new products to market to support local EMEA needs as well as worldwide markets. They will lead a team of engineers based in Switzerland and England and partner closely with the EMEA Marketing and Sales teams as well as the US based R&D group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The position requires BSME, BSBME or equivalent, Masters Degree preferred, with 15+ years of medical device experience (spinal or orthopedic product development experience preferred). Must have a strong understanding of medical design and mechanics including optimal material combinations, anatomy and testing methodology and experience in project management and people development. The ability to review and critically assess patents and other forms of intellectual property is vital.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as this person will need to interact with key surgeon opinion leaders, marketing and sales associates.

Past experience must demonstrate a track record of innovative designs and successful product launches.

Must have strong project management skills and a working knowledge of various types of mechanisms, materials, proper tolerancing, drafting standards, and GD&T. The ability to interact and work effectively in a team environment is essential.
