Job Description
We are currently working exclusively on an excellent opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer with a leading provider of imaging software to the life sciences sector. Our client is the leading provider of Imaging solutions to the world wide cell biology market.
Their success is founded on an unparalleled reputation in the industry for technical support and after sales service. They are looking to expand the Midlands-based global technical support team.
The Technical Support team operates a shift pattern to staff the support desk from 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday.
The team is responsible for arranging the rota on a monthly basis however each individual in the team is responsible for the cover of at least 12 evening shifts per month. A shift bonus is paid for each evening shift (after 6pm) worked.
Customers work at the cutting edge of biological research.
Applicants must be excited by the latest computer, camera and microscope technologies. Candidates must be ready to embrace and relish the challenges of working in this dynamic market where research technologies and demands are continually evolving.
Training
Successful candidates will enrol in the UK-based Academy and receive full product and technical support training.
Responsibilities
Respond to all emails and telephone calls received by the help desk
Provide hardware and or software problem solving assistance
Replicate software bugs and elevate through the correct procedures
Answer any questions relating to the use of any product supplied
Liaise with the development team to resolve technical support issues
Liaise with 3rd party suppliers to resolve hardware support issues
Write technical support material to add to the library of resources available to customers
Exceed customers technical support expectations
Requirements
Essential
Salary £20K + Shift Allowance + Bens
Educated to a 2:1 or equivalent standard
BSc with an interest in biology or microscopy
or
BSc or equivalent in a Computing related subject (excluding Computer Science) BUT must display a proven interest or have studied biology subjects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Problem solving skills
Customer focused
Desirable:
German, Japanese or French language skills. If this is a first language you must be fluent in written and verbal English.
