Health & Safety with Waste Management
Health & Safety Officer

We are committed to the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment and now wishes to appoint a Health and Safety Officer in the Waste & Environmental Division to assist management and employees comply with the Safety Health & Welfare Act 2005 and also the specific Regulations subsequently introduced in 2007
The successful applicant will be highly motivated, have sound judgement and determination, be an excellent communicator and be willing to take responsibility.
Persons to fill this position should have a capacity to operate on their own initiative and to act professionally on matters of safety and health. They should have the capacity to relate to external bodies in such matters and should also have the aptitude and capacity to understand the wider business, thereby ensuring that the Safety Environment created is one that is aligned with other business objectives.
Based in the Kildare area, but responsible for a business that operates across the Midlands, the successful applicant will report on health and safety issues to the Directorate of the Business and will also have functional reporting to the Health & Safety Manager.
Duties:
• Write and continuously review Standard Operating Procedures for all processes in all operations across the Business.
• Complete Health & Safety training needs analysis for all areas and ensure that training is carried out accordingly.
• Work with and influence Site Operations management to ensure that the Safe Environment outcome works alongside an efficient operations process.
• Assist Site Operations Management in defining and resolving (including sourcing of engineering or other solutions) process related Safety issues.
• Provide relevant safety induction programmes for line management to ensure that all existing and new employees are fully aware of the hazards and safe work procedures in their place of work.
• Review and update all Safety Statements in accordance with the Safety, Health & Welfare Act 2005 and any subsequent amendments
• Carry out regular risk assessments in all areas of operations across the Business.
• Investigate accidents/dangerous occurrences as necessary in conjunction with Site Management.
