Export Office Manager
£28,000 -£30,000
My client a large import/export company have a fantastic vacancy for an Office Manager to be based within the Export Department of their busy offices in Birmingham, West Midlands.
The main purpose of the job role is to lead, manage and develop staff and ensure smooth and profitable running of Export Office. Increasing turnover and building trusting relationships with Agents and Customers.
Example of duties:
· Lead, manage and develop the department’s staff, ensuring they work efficiently and have all relevant resources and information. Making certain all in-house systems and procedures are in place, up to date and used effectively.
· Building strong and trusting relationships with all agents. Providing them with all information and resources, in order for them to ‘service’ customers effectively.
· Sending samples, catalogues, prices lists and advising on product changes.
· Highly sales driven role, managing existing accounts and developing new business opportunities.
· Increasing office turnover by various means, increase and adapt product ranges of customers.
· Improve profitability and ensure that we are receiving the best deal from suppliers.
· Negotiate with suppliers and monitor orders to ensure they are profitable.
· Arrange annual budgets for Export department, exhibitions, promotions and customer shows.
· Visit customers and Agents overseas. Organise and set up exhibitions in France and Spain.
· Attend customer forums in France.
· Research and identify any new potential overseas markets.
· Liasing with other departments as and when necessary. Holding regular meetings with Directors to keep them up date them with department activities.
The successful candidate must be able to read, write and speak fluently in French as this is our largest market.
Proven experience of managing a department and its staff is imperative Focusing on recognising staff strengths and weaknesses and helping to develop them in all areas.
You must have a proven track record within Sales, managing existing accounts and developing new business opportunities.
Experience of organising and attending overseas exhibitions, recognising opportunities and encouraging business relationships.
Candidates need to be self-motivated, confident, friendly and approachable.
Extremely conscientious with a good eye for detail and someone who will be able to prioritise, make time for urgent issues and understand the need for getting things right the first time.
Knowledge of a second language, such as Spanish, would be a great advantage.
Experience of a busy Export Department and freight forwarding as an important part of the job role is to ensure that freight costs are kept to a minimum, without decreasing service levels.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
